Ski clothing is an investment that you want to use for years. From waterproof jackets to breathable ski pants, you want to ensure that the quality of the materials is maintained. But how do you ensure that your ski clothing stays clean without affecting the technical properties? In this blog we give you useful tips for washing, drying and impregnating ski clothing so that you can continue to enjoy it season after season!

Read the washing label first

Before you start washing your ski clothing, it is important to read the care label carefully. Each garment has its own care instructions and the care label will tell you exactly what the best approach is. Pay particular attention to whether the garment is suitable for the washing machine or can only be washed by hand. Some ski clothing, such as jackets with a membrane, require special care to maintain their waterproof and breathable properties.

Use little detergent

It is tempting to use a lot of detergent to remove dirt from your ski clothing, but this can actually be counterproductive. Too much detergent can remain in the fabric, which reduces the breathability of the clothing. Therefore, always use a small amount of detergent, preferably a special detergent for sports or outdoor clothing. The Extra Hygiene detergent from The Laundry Story is an excellent choice for this. This detergent cleans thoroughly without damaging the technical fabrics of your ski clothing, and ensures that your clothing stays fresh and clean.

Drying and spinning ski clothing

After washing, it is time to dry your ski clothing. Spin on a low speed to prevent the fabric from getting damaged. Ski clothing is often made of delicate materials that are sensitive to too much friction and heat. Let your clothing air dry, preferably in a well-ventilated place and avoid direct sunlight and the dryer, because this can damage the waterproof coating of your jacket or pants.

Be careful when washing a down jacket

A down jacket requires a little extra attention during washing. These jackets need to be treated gently to maintain their insulating properties. Wash your down jacket on a low temperature and use a small amount of detergent. Add a few clean dryer balls when drying in the dryer to prevent the down feathers from clumping together. Dryer balls , such as those from The Laundry Story, ensure that your down jacket retains its volume and keeps you warm on the slopes. This helps to keep the down evenly distributed and prevents your jacket from becoming clumpy.
