It is a common problem: you are enjoying a cozy evening with candlelight and suddenly a drop of candle wax falls on your favorite piece of clothing. Don't panic, because it is possible to remove candle wax from clothes . In this article we discuss useful tips to tackle this persistent problem.

Why is it important to remove candle wax quickly?

Candle wax can not only ruin your clothes, but it can also cause permanent stains if you don't act quickly. The longer the wax stays on the fabric, the harder it becomes to remove. So it's important to act as soon as possible.

What do you need?

  • Iron
  • Kitchen paper
  • Blunt knife, card or spoon
  • Dasty stain remover
  • Laundry detergent

Removing candle wax from clothes can be a bit tricky, but the following steps should get you there:

  • Let the candle wax dry : If the candle wax is still wet, let it dry completely first. Don't try to make it harden faster. You may be tempted to blot with paper towels, but don't. You'll push the wax deeper into the fabric
  • Scrape off gently : Once the wax is dry, use a dull knife, card or spoon to gently scrape off the excess wax from the fabric. Do this gently to avoid damaging the fabric!
  • Using a heat source : Next, place a paper bag or paper towel over the wax. Use a warm iron (not too hot to avoid damaging the fabric) and iron over the paper. The wax should melt and be absorbed by the paper. Be careful not to iron directly onto the fabric.
  • Stain remover : Apply a stain remover to the remaining stain and let it sit for a while.
  • Washing : Then wash the garment as you normally would. Use The Laundry Story's extra hygiene detergent for this. Check that the stain has completely disappeared before putting the garment in the dryer, as heat can set the stain.
